DIY QUICKIE: Love the Keychain

Love the Keychain

At my cousin’s beautiful wedding last September they gave out these cute bottle openers.  Read why this wedding guest favor looked so familiar and wound up inspiring me to make something I will use every day. Love the Keychain

I thought it was such a sweet jester but there was something more.  I kept looking at it as if I had seen something like it before.  Then it hit me!  I had seen it before …  Love the Keychain

So, of course, I had to this … Love the Keychain

Do you love it?  I know I do.  Here’s how I did this SUPER QUICK AND EASY project.  Love the Keychain

I love this bottle opener, but time to give it a mini-makeover.

Cut a length of link chain,  I chose one to match the color of the Love bottle opener.  You will only need 1 to 1.5 inches of chain.  I think I had to buy a yard!  Oh well.  It was only $1.25/yd and I am sure I’ll find other uses for the rest.

Loop the chain through the opening in the “L” of the bottle opener.

Now take a jump ring and catch either end of the chain.

While the jump ring is still open, loop the key ring finding (again I selected a key ring color to match the bottle opener).  Now using pliers close the jump ring.  TIP:  If you are a little heavy handed with your keys, you could choose to use two jump rings here for extra durability.

And you’re done!  I know that wasn’t even 5 minutes.

Now you have a key ring/bottle opener a la Sex in the City (inspired).  Don’t you LOVE it?  Get it?  LOL  Anyway, now I carry my cousin’s love with me every day.
